About the authors:
Irène Mathieu is a pediatrician, writer, and public health researcher. She is winner of the Bob Kaufman Book Prize and Yemassee Journal's Poetry Prize, and is author of the book orogeny (Trembling Pillow Press, 2017) and poetry chapbook the galaxy of origins (dancing girl press & studio, 2014). Irène has received fellowships from the Fulbright Program and the Callaloo Creative Writing Workshop. Irène holds a BA in International Relations from the College of William & Mary and a MD from Vanderbilt University. She is on the speakers' bureau of Jack Jones Literary Arts.
Joanna Suzanne Lee earned her MD from the Medical College of Virginia in 2007 and a Master’s Degree in Applied Science from the College of William and Mary in 2010. Her poetry has been published in a number of online and print journals, including Rattle, Floodwall, and Contemporary American Voices, and has been nominated for both Best of the Net and Pushcart prizes. She lives and writes in Richmond's Northside with her fiancé John and her cat Max.
