Book Reading & Signing with A.E. Stallings!

  • Chop Suey Books 2913 West Cary Street Richmond, VA, 23221 United States (map)

Join us for a book reading & signing with A.E. Stallings, author of Mourning Songs. Free & open to the public.

About the book: Mourning Songs is a collection of poems and short stories that takes you from the aged metropolis of Berlin, to the humid temples of Vietnam and everywhere in between. What's the common factor in all these places? Evil. Darkness resides just beneath the surface of all of our known world. Be it the back roads of the American south or on the dance floor of a Los Angeles nightclub, Mourning Songs presents there is a shadow lurking just outside of our vision at all times. This collection makes you look through the kaleidoscope of human nature's inherent anxiety and fear. It makes you search for an image of peace, only for you to find that the image is fleeting or nowhere to be found at all. Dive in, get lost in the night.

About the author: A.E. Stallings is a salesman, fiction writer, event promoter and musician residing in Richmond, Va. His work is that of a coy supernatural nature. His freelance work is mainly his factual and resolute opinions on contemporary music. He attended Hampden-Sydney College with a focus on English/Creative Writing and an extra curricular focus on Rugby. His debut collection Mourning Songs was self published in 2017; other examples of his writing in regards to music or album releases can be found on www.noecho.net. Much of his work is influenced by his travels in the United States and Europe as a performing hardcore punk musician. He can most likely be found speaking loudly in various coffee shops along the east coast or mulling around dive bars where the music is too loud. He believes life should be lived at the extremes and all the best stories occur after the sun goes down.
